On today's episode John and I spend time with two modern day missionaries...
The missionary model we all grew up with is undergoing a radical change. Two men who until today had never met, both have the same call on their lives and have individually embarked on a revolutionary mission to change the world.

Based on the teachings of Jesus  - 

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour." Luke 4:19 

Embracing the wisdom of Solomon -

Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him—for this is his lot. Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work—this is a gift of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.  Ecc 5:18-20

Following the words of Paul - 

When we were actually with you we gave you this principle to work on:
“If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3

Changing The World For Christ

There is a shift happening among many believers in terms of the message that they are hearing. Said from the other perspective, the gospel of sin management or the gospel of salvation is being expanded to the gospel of the Kingdom. We are not throwing away any of the aspects of redemption or Jesus’work on the cross...

You Get What You Preach

The movement – It’s not uncommon to find those who are vocal about the inadequacies of the institutional church, but still share much of the gospel of salvation. I simply want to sharpen our message in this newsletter...

The Message – (see the table below) When we tell disciples to surrender and live in contentment, they surrender their dreams and accept their trials and sicknesses as holy. We need to pull them out of their passivity and teach them also to rule and reign with Jesus. If we involve them in building the local church, we should also pull the curtain back on the possibilities in the Kingdom...

The purpose of the church is to equip the saints for ministry in the Kingdom. Our message, Biblically, really is the Gospel of the Kingdom. Salvation and church are pathways to get there. Very important, but they are doorways, not end states. Even heaven is not the end state. The Kingdom is here, eternity has already started for Kings.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Eph 2:8-10 NIV

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John 14:12-14 NIV

I thought it would be hard to top Episode 1, but I clearly see now we've only scratched the surface. The ministry God has called John to has more layers than a Vidalia onion. In today's Podcast, John takes us deeper into the concept of Marketplace Ministry.

This isn't just another good idea, an evangelical concept, or talking point for your next small group. This is the strong arm of God reaching out to his people and calling us to action. It's been preached from the pulpit for hundreds of years that we serve a God who can do anything. We've preached it to men on dark continents who ache for a decent days work. We've spoken positive confessions over Mothers with AIDS and lain hands on their babies with swollen bellies. Then we pack up and go home...

Truth be known, some of the greatest tragedies in the world today live right across the street from you and I. Men and women who create wealth simply for the sake of building bigger barns. You and I, we stand by and watch, or gossip, or ignore.

“Have Fun, Make Money, and Love People”

In a recent newsletter John wrote:

My personal journey toward marketplace ministry and this Kingly mindset started with four aspects of theology, and it changed my perspective on being entrepreneurial and contending for the Kingdom. We carefully wrote about these four topics in Releasing Kings, part 2. My theology felt like those global warming glaciers for a few years… big chucks of my traditions cracked off and fell into the ocean. Most of us are going through a transition and we’re allowing our hearts more freedom “and” we’re finding the will of God already written on our hearts my the Holy Spirit!. We saw “heart liberation” a lot in these two conferences in Warsaw and Ukraine.

My heart is longing for disciples who will release their hearts to embrace the wisdom and anointing required to create wealth, and convert money into ministry. It’s really a lot of fun. Let’s teach them how, in church… That’s what we did in these last two conferences. The pastors we worked with made it all possible. Pretty exciting!
