The Futures Market has been somewhat slow to recover in the wake of John Corzine and his escapades at MF Global. Unlike those guilty of lesser crimes of a similar nature, Mr. Corzine walks the streets today a free man. How is this possible? Not everyone has the capital or foresight to make certain well timed, well placed, political donations. On the surface, the headline reads, "Crime Pays - If You Pay The Right People".

Before the welt from the slap on Corzine's hand had time to fade, Emini Traders, Commodity Specualtors and Forex Traders around the world were rocked by the news of PFGBest's CEO and his failed suicide attempt. Long story short, another $200,000,000.00 GONE!

As you know, the PFGBest (Peregrine Financial) debacle has left many investors and traders devastated. After $1.6 billion of client funds "vanished" at MF Global, regulators boldly promised the investing public... "Never again". While many of the clients were sophisticated investors and hedge funds, a vast majoirty of PFG clients were Main Street traders, not Wall Street predators.

Small business owners across the country who earned their living trading Emini Futures including the S&P500, Dow, Nasdaq and the Russell, along with Crude, Gold, Grains and Currencies suddenly found themselves "out of business". This was a shake up and a wake up call, the likes of which the National Futures Association (NFA) and futures traders themselves had never before experienced.

James Koutoulas Speaks Out On MF Global - PFG And Jamie Dimon

James Koutoulas co-founder of the Commodity Customer Coalition, which represents the interests of over 10,000 investors and traders, pulled no punches today as he spoke with great passion regarding the plight of those who have been victimized not only by Jon Corzine of MF Global (currently partying in the Hamptons) Russell Wasendorf Sr. of PFGBest (currently incarcerated) but by the very regulators who were put in place to protect them. The breach of fiduciary duty is heinous at best.

"My goal is real simple: getting everybody's money back," he says. "And I think we have a very high likelihood of doing just that." In early November, Koutoulas, along with fellow Chicago futures trader, John Roe – son of Tennessee Republican congressman Dr. Phil Roe – founded the Commodity Customer Coalition, a grassroots group that seeks to represent the complex legal interests of MF Global's former clients and now those of PFGBest.

Koutoulas, who runs commodity trading advisory firm Typhon Capital Management in Chicago, saw about 50 of his clients affected in the aftermath of the discovery of the fund shortfall — when MF Global Trustee James Giddens immediately froze all customer accounts and no one one was allowed to make withdrawals. Altogether, Koutoulas' customers had roughly $55 million held up at MF Global.
